Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day to all....

And dare I say to all, to take a little time out of your day to stop and think about what our independence means to us collectively, as well as individually. Independence is what defines our nation, but it should not be taken for granted. Our independence was gifted to us, through the blood, sweat and tears of our forefathers. In light of that gift, it is incumbent upon each and every one of us, as citizens of the United States, to do our part to preserve our independence. We owe it to our forefathers, as well as ourselves and future generations. So, sometime between enjoying some food and fireworks. take a minute to stop and think what you have done or can do to preserve our greatest gift.

Nice post.

As is our custom, we read and reflected upon a few founding quotes apropos to the day, as well as the Declaration of Independence in its entirety.

Our fireworks show was a bit inferior to what we're used to (we thought we'd try to get "more for less" don't ya know), but it wasn't bad. I had misplaced my favorite patriotic CD, Stars and Stripes Forever, Volume II, so a good portion of the day was spent looking for it -- you can't have a good fireworks display without the music to attend it. LOL. Thankfully the CD was eventually found and our joy was made full.

We cooked hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, and I did drink a couple of beers as well. After all, yesterday was "beer'n hotdogs day." ;-)

Hope your day went as well!
